A personal project, done for my own satisfaction, a set of OS-system level replacement icons for the Adobe Creative Suite. Also uploaded to my website for other interested individuals to download and replace their installed icon set.
When Adobe released the then-controversial "periodic table" style icons for their Creative Suite of applications, many felt the flat 2-letter square icons lacked clarity and differentiation. And as the new icons also included applications from the Macromedia merger, many people also felt the new icons lost a certain visual appeal that the Macromedia icons had.
This project was created to solve these issues, using a hybrid of the new Adobe colouring and the old Macromedia icon shape, shadows & glossiness, whilst at the same time coming up a brand new set of instantly-recognisable and appropriate symbols for each application that requires no explanation.
