PROJECT:      Lewisham Building Schools for the Future Strategic Studies

LOCATION:    Lewisham

ARCHITECT:  Mace

Over a period of 3 years, we were involved in strategic planning for the Lewisham BSF Process, including seven primary and secondary schools. We worked in close co-ordination with Mace, Lewisham and other design team members to create the strategic plan for each school included within the project.

Strategy for Sustainable Planning

During the pre-planning submission stage our detailed analytical input enabled building form, structure and orientation to be confirmed in relationship to the internal environment (both thermal and visual) and target emission factors set for the future development.

A detailed analysis of the potential for renewable solutions was carried out and where appropriate renewable systems such as ground linked geothermal (as at Hither Green Primary School) or photovoltaic generator were proposed.

The detailed nature of these processes enabled projects to progress through the planning stages with confidence that the building will operate in a comfortable, compliant and fully sustainable manner.

Building Analysis

The early stages of design are carried out in 3D, enabling both the design team and client to gain a full understanding of the engineering co-ordination with the building arrangement. This is an invaluable tool during early stages of the design process.
